John Kaburick started out modestly in the
motor carrier industry as an owner/opera-
tor with one truck in 1973.
Two years later, he and a
partner decided to launch a
small company that quick-
ly grew into a 30-truck
fleet.
With that business
experience under his belt, in
1977 John decided to leave
the company to work as a sales-
man for a local truck deal-
ership, a position that helped
him build an extensive network of contacts.
One of his long-time customers eventu-
ally made him an offer he couldnt refuse:
He was presented with the prospect of own-
ership of Earl L. Henderson Trucking. When
Earl Henderson sold his business to John in
1990, he positioned him for exciting growth
potential possibly even stronger than its
original owner had anticipated.
When John and Earl came to a deal
Henderson operated 100 tractors and 110
temperature-controlled trailers, but by man-
aging their prime customer base for the past
20 years, Henderson Trucking of Salem, IL
has grown to over 400 tractors and nearly
600 van and reefer trailers that move food-
stuffs, perishables and printed materials.
Henderson Trucking has always prided
itself on its solid, reliable reputation for
first-class service and their "just in time"
product movements within the US and
Canada. As president, John is still a vital and
active participant in his business, but has
taken to wearing a new hat that of
Chairman of Truckload Carriers Association
for 2010-2011.
After acquiring Henderson Trucking,
which was already a Truckload Carriers
Association, or TCA, member, John became
active in the association. TCA is the nation-
al trade association with a
focus on the truckload seg-
ment of the motor carrier
industry, representing dry
van, refrigerated, flatbed,
intermodal container and
end-dump carriers operat-
ing in Canada, the 48 con-
tiguous states, Alaska, and
Mexico.
In his early engage-
ment he participated in edu-
cational events, but soon felt the calling to
take on numerous volunteer positions and
appointments, culminating in his current
chairmanship. Some of his work includes:
